Letters to Leaders

MESSAGE FROM THE PARISH PRESIDENT, OCTOBER 20, 2021

Wednesday, October 20, 2021

Efforts to get St. Tammany Parish back to normal remain steadfast.

As of today, we have removed more than 825,000 cubic yards of debris from unincorporated St. Tammany Parish. Our Parish contractor, DRC Emergency Services, is picking up 25,000 – 30,000 cubic yards of green debris daily

DRC is expected to add 20 more trucks to their pickup fleet within the next two weeks, expediting the debris pickup process. To view the estimated pickup time map, please click here.

The Safe Haven Community Health Center continues to move forward with a full schedule for primary care and behavioral health appointments. The need for a third Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the Mandeville/Lacombe area has been made clear by the community response since its opening earlier this year.

The Crisis Receiving Center, the 24-bed anchor of the Safe Haven campus and the entry point for those in a behavioral health crisis, is in final stages of licensing and should be open very soon. Construction of the Safe Haven Training and Education Center and the Family Promise Willie Paretti Day Center have begun.

Recently, my administration partnered with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to upgrade the East Pearl boat launch, including improving the boat launch piers, expanding the parking lot and other vital enhancements, to better serve our boaters and fishermen.

As always, should you have questions or if I may be of assistance to you in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Stay Safe,
Regards,

Michael B. Cooper
Parish President
