PRESIDENT COOPER OFFERS UPDATE ON TROPICAL STORM IDA

MANDEVILLE, LA. – St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper provides an update on the Parish readiness and encourages citizens to prepare for Tropical Storm Ida.

“While it’s too early to predict potential impacts to St. Tammany Parish, now is the time to prepare for Tropical Storm Ida,” said President Cooper. “Our Parish crews have spent several hours preparing for Ida, by pumping down detention ponds, clearing drainage ditches and providing sandbags. We are asking you to be aware and vigilant throughout this storm.”

Sandbags will be available, beginning Friday, August 27, 2021 at 8 a.m. at the following locations:

  • Covington Public Works Barn @ 1305 N. Florida Street, Covington.
  • St. Tammany Parish Government Complex @ 21410 Koop Drive, Mandeville.
  • Fritchie Public Works Barn @ 63119 Hwy 190, Pearl River.
  • Airport Road Public Works Barn @ 34583 Grantham College Road, Slidell.
  • Keller Public Works Barn @ 63131 Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe.
  • Old Levee District Site @ 61134 Military Road (Hwy 190), Slidell.

The sandbags are self-service and limited to 15 bags per vehicle. Assistance for elderly or handicapped citizens is available. Please bring your own shovels.
