President Mike Cooper Announces Spring 2024 Recycling & Waste Drop-Off Events

President Mike Cooper has announced Keep St. Tammany Beautiful will hold two recycling and waste drop-off events this Spring.

The "Green Tammany Recycling Day" will be held on March 16, from 9 a.m. to noon on Koop Drive in Mandeville. Residents can drop off batteries, glass, documents (limited to 3 copy paper-sized boxes) and rimless tires (limited to 4 per vehicle).

"These recycling events are vital as they allow our neighbors and families to safely dispose of potentially harmful waste, while protecting our environment,” said President Cooper. "Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated staff, we will hold two recycling events this spring: Green Tammany Recycling Day in March and Household Hazardous Waste Day in May. I encourage all of our citizens to look around your homes for recyclable waste for disposal.”

The Recreational Fisheries Research Institute (RFRI) sponsored the glass recycling portion of the event as part of their “Bottles to Beaches” program, which turns glass into sand for coastal protection and fish habitat enhancement.

The annual Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held in May and will accept a larger range of household hazardous waste and recyclable materials. Additional details for the Household Hazardous Waste Day will be announced in the coming months.
