Today, May 4, 2023, the Department of Utilities has received confirmation from the Louisiana Department of Health that the water we provide you is safe for consumption.  Therefore, the Precautionary Boil Advisory is rescinded.

PRECAUTIONARY BOIL ADVISORY

Lake Hills Water System LA 1103128

Today, May 1, 2023, the Department of Utilities turned off water service to the Lake Hills Water System to perform a routine inspection and cleaning of the water storage tank. Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with Louisiana Department of Health regulations, the entire Lake Hills Water System is under a precautionary boil water advisory.

This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Department of Utilities. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container.  The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.  (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.

The Department of Utilities will rescind this BOIL ADVISORY upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health that additional water samples collected from our system have shown the water to be safe.  

Customers affected by this advisory will be advised when it is rescinded by signs placed in the area, post on the parish website, and social media.

Lake Hills Water System Water Service Interruption May 1, 2023

Water Service Interruption

Lake Hills Water System (PWS 1103128)

On Monday, May 1, 2023, at 8:00 am water service to the entire Lake Hills Water System will be turned off to perform maintenance on the water storage tank. Customers are estimated to be without water for at least 6 hours and will be placed under a precautionary boil water advisory until samples are cleared by the Louisiana Department of Health Laboratory. The tank is being placed out of service so that a contractor may clean and inspect the tank, Department of Utilities personnel will also be upgrading the electrical panel at the well site during this time.

NOTICE OF SERVICE DISRUPTION

You may experience low or no water pressure in this area.

During this time, please find an alternative water supply.

Command Construction, LLC, contracted by St. Tammany Parish Department of Utilities, will be performing a valve closure to complete a waterline tie-in.

WHEN:         Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 9:00 pm

until Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 4:00 am

When water is restored, you may experience discolored water. It is recommended to run your faucets for 5 minutes to flush out the lines before resuming regular use.

Additionally, the Department of Utilities will issue a precautionary boil water advisory that will go into effect beginning Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 9:00 PM. The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in effect until bacteriological samples can be collected and analyzed. The precautionary boil water advisory will be rescinded once advised by the Department of Health based on the sample results.

About the Project

Approximately 2,000 linear feet of new 12” water main will be constructed as part of the Cross Gates Water Distribution project. This temporary disruption of services is required to install the necessary valves and fittings to allow the new 12” water main to be tied in to the Cross Gates water system.

Once complete, residents will experience an overall improved quality of life as the Project will enhance domestic and fire flow of the water distribution system for the homes located nearby.

Out an abundance of caution and in accordance with Louisiana Department of Health regulations, the customers listed above are under a precautionary Boil Advisory.

Today, April 21, 2023, water pressure in the Ben Thomas Water System was lost due to a pump motor failure at the water well. As an abundance of caution and in accordance with Louisiana Department of Health regulations, the customers listed above will be under a precautionary Boil Advisory.

This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Department of Utilities. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:

*Flushing of the Pineland Park Water System is ahead of schedule and will be completed today, April 25, 2023, by 5:00pm.*

The Department of Utilities will be flushing the Pineland Park Water System on Tuesday, April 25th and Wednesday, April 26th. The flushing is anticipated to follow the schedule below but is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Customers living in these areas can expect to experience low water pressure and brown water when flushing is initiated.  If you are not a Department of Utilities customer or if you do not live in one of the subdivisions/areas identified below, this notice does not apply.
